“We will realize real, positive, sustainable environmental impact when and only when we make the climate change conversation relevant and meaningful to consumers,” said Jeffrey Swartz, President and CEO of Timberland. “We believe Together’s model for meeting this mission, by convening like-minded organizations to promote simple, practical energy- and earth-saving solutions, is absolutely dead on – and we’re proud to be among those driving this critical campaign.”
WE LOVE THE OUTDOORS.
At Timberland, making outdoor boots, shoes and gear is what we do for a living. No more outdoors means no more living—for us or anyone else. Of course, we realize that by making our products, we’re part of the problem. We believe it’s time for companies, like ours, to take a look at how the way they do business affects the environment and do something about it. “Earthkeepers” is one way we’re trying to do exactly that.
WHAT ARE EARTHKEEPERS?
OK, we made up the word, but it’s not too hard to figure out. “Earth”—where we all live, plus “keepers”— guardians or protectors. Put them together and ta-da—a new way to call people who care about the environment. Our goal: inspire and engage one million Earthkeepers.
THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN…
We don’t have all the answers. So we hope you share yours. Or, just look around to learn a few things you didn’t already know. Or, help spread the word. The more Earthkeepers the better. These are the guys on the front lines of environmental change. If you want to get down and dirty, join “Dig It” and help us plant trees in your city.
WHAT ELSE WE’RE UP TO.
It’s not a surprise that a company with a tree as its logo spends a lot of time out among them. But it may be surprising how far our commitment to protecting trees and the environment goes. From “nutrition” labels on our footwear to using energy generated by wind and sun to planting a million new trees, we’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint to help preserve the planet.
