B&Q is a keen and active participant in the Together campaign as we have been focused on corporate responsibility for many years. In the early nineties, we led the way with our sustainable timber policy and our ground-breaking work with the Forest Stewardship Council, and now, we are focused primarily on climate change and the environment, specifically on the efficient use of natural resources in the home.
We have been getting our own house in order by improving the energy efficiency performance of our stores for a number of years. We’ve introduced controls for heating and lighting in all new stores since 1998, and more recently have introduced dimming systems and daylight panels to new developments. We’re trailing solar and wind power in certain locations and are always looking for ways to reduce our consumption.
