The music has stopped, but we’re just getting going...

11 July 2007

Together is here to help you answer Live Earth’s call!

An incredible two billion people around the world watched the Live Earth concerts on Saturday 7th July in a 24-hour music marathon spanning seven continents to highlight the problem of global climate change. With shows in London, Sydney, Tokyo, Kyoto, Shanghai, Hamburg, Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro — and even a performance by a band of scientists at a research station in Antarctica — Live Earth was the biggest musical event ever staged.

"Times like these demand action," former US Vice President Al Gore and figurehead of Live Earth, told the sold-out crowd of about 52,000 fans in the Giants Stadium, near New York City.

As official partner of the concerts in the UK, Together was there as an integral part of the day and is here to pick up where Live Earth has left off. The campaign provides a simple way for the millions of people who watched in the UK to do their bit in their everyday lives and answer Live Earth’s unprecedented ‘call to action’. Many of the UK’s favourite brands have already united behind the campaign to help you do just that with a growing range of new products and ideas that make it easier and cheaper to reduce your impact on the climate.

Dr Steve Howard, our campaign founder, said on the day: “When the music stops, we must all start to act. From now on there can be no more excuses: everyone needs to become part of the solution. The Together campaign gives people easy and affordable ways to answer Live Earth's call to action, make a difference in their everyday lives and start saving their tonne of CO2.”

Al Gore gave us encouragement on the day: “Public engagement is a vital part of our ability to tackle climate change. I commend the Together campaign and I wish it every success.”

You can watch any part of any of the concerts around the world here.
